Working with Pallets
— If you’re worried about the amount of Woodland that is being destroyed then you will agree with us that recycling Pallets is our small way of helping to preserving our Woodlands. —
Volunteering
We are becoming socially isolated due to technology, social media, computers, mobile phones, tablets and the like. As a nation we are losing our Social skills, human interaction, reading somebody’s body language or mood are becoming a thing of the past. These skills are a Very Important part of community life and without these skills the community spirit will be lost. Volunteering is a positive and very rewarding way forward to breathe life back into our community’s.
Whether it is an hour or a day volunteering will not only be rewarding for you but will improve someone else’s life and protect communities from disappearing forever.
Butterfly Lodge Education Centre offers holistic one to one training and therapeutic experiences in a farm environment. All work is done at a pace suitable to the learner and the centre is open to anyone who would like to benefit from this form of therapeutic and educational activity. The site itself boasts 2 fully equipped classrooms, including a disabled toilet and kitchen facility, as well as a small animal centre, stables, goat barn with fully operational mechanical dairy as well as fields of grazing animals such as pygmy goats, sheep and cows. The farm also aims to be as environmentally friendly as possible, recycling water and using renuable energy from the farm\'s wind turbine and solar pannels. As the centre is set in the heart of the Essex countryside certain conservation activities are also available alongside a horticultural project making use of our vegetable plot and polytunnel. Students and farm helpers coming to the centre can choose to specialise in one area of agricultural expertise, for example horse care or poultry care, or they can choose to come to enjoy the experiences as a whole and engage with all animals across the board. In this manner we can create tailor made courses for individuals and small groups.
Helping the Community
Helping People access the wider community is only limited by your imagination.
Days out can be as simple as a stroll along a sea front, visiting a tea room, going to a stately home, out in our many parks and gardens or just sitting by a river watching the world go by. People of all ages or with disability’s do benefit enormously when supported by volunteers to assist them to access the community.
One of our main goals is to inspire people to volunteer in the community. Volunteering isn’t just about giving your time and skills, your actions bring that satisfaction of helping others less fortunate and seeing changes because of what you have done.
